Aussie Rules UK has announced the dates of matches involving the England National Team in 2009.
The international season will kick off on Saturday 5th September, with the England Dragonslayers taking on the Irish Exiles. The Exiles are drawn from Irish players currently playing Aussie Rules in the UK. The venue is Albert Road Recreation Reserve, home of the North London Lions. The match starts at 12pm.
On Saturday 12th September, Game 1 of the Dragon Cup will take place in Cardiff. Wales are the current Dragon Cup holders and the Dragonslayers will be keen to avenge their defeat from last year.
Game 2 will take place the following week at 12pm on Saturday 19th September, again at Albert Road Recreation Reserve.
All matches above will be played under the 18-per-side format, with the selectors choosing a squad of 22 players.
On Friday 2nd October the Dragonslayers will arrive in Croatia to defend their title at EU Cup 2009. Competing nations include Spain, France, Germany, Scotland, Croatia, Czech Republic, Andorra, Catalonia, Austria and the Netherlands.
