Irish Exiles defeat England

- 2009-09-06 00:20:00

The Irish Exiles have stormed home to defeat the England Dragonslayers by 9 points earlier today.

Played in sunny conditions at Albert Road Recreation Ground in Bounds Green, London, the Exiles kicked 5 goals in the last quarter to triumph 9.9 (63) to 7.12 (54).

The wind played a major role in the game, with both teams failing to score goals when kicking against the wind. England had one more scoring shot, but the Irish took more advantage of their oppotunities to run out deserved winners of the Kangaroo Cup.

The match was a great success and looks set to become an annual fixture on the UK calendar. Photos can be viewed at http://www.arukfooty.com/national_team/irish_exiles/photos
