AFL London Grand Final this weekend

- 2009-08-20 08:46:00

The 2009 AFL London Grand Final day takes place this Saturday (22 August) at Barn Elms (Putney Bridge) in London.

This weekend sees the culmination of a typically brutal AFL season with rivals The West London Wildcats taking on the Wandsworth Demons. Come down to the ground and check out some great Aussie Rules action on the day. There should be some good weather, and a crowd in excess of 3,000 to watch the finest that London has to offer.

The West London Wildcats won through to the Grand Final by defeating the Putney Magpies in the Preliminary Final and will now take on arch rivals the Wandsworth Demons. The Wildcats are the reigning champions in all 3 divisions and it will be up to the Demons to try and stop their dominance.

Please note that the venue is not BYO due to council regulations and no pets are allowed at the venue either. However, there will be a full bar and BBQ running on the day, plus entertainment and of course 3 Grand Finals

The game times are as follows:

Social 11am - South London Demons v Ealing Emus

Conference 12.45pm - Clapham Demons v Shepherds Bush Raiders

Premiership 3.30pm - Wandsworth Demons v West London Wildcats

The best way to get to the ground is by catching the overground to Putney Station, or Tube to Putney Bridge and walking along the river. From Hammersmith the 209 Bus will take you to the ground.
